Women In Culture

The “Women in Culture” program, led by Culture For Causes Network, took place from 2017 to 2019 in partnership with UNESCO and The New York Times. It highlighted the role and contributions of women across the global cultural sector, aiming to amplify women’s voices—artists, curators, researchers, and cultural leaders—by giving them visibility and spaces for dialogue. Through international campaigns, inspiring portraits shared during MuseumWeek, and collaborations with cultural and educational institutions, the program promoted gender equality and women’s empowerment through culture, positioning culture as a powerful driver of emancipation and social transformation.

52 events around the world were organized

Exhibiting

Reconciliation with the living

Culture For Causes Network built an exhibition dedicated to biodiversity, designed to travel across the globe, strengthening the role of culture and artists in raising public awareness about environmental issues. This exhibition serves as a powerful reminder of how culture can help tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time, fostering a deeper understanding of our connection to nature.

The impact of this exhibition goes beyond showcasing art; it aims to engage audiences in a conversation about biodiversity and the environment, emphasizing how art can move people and inspire action. With each edition held in different cities (e.g., Paris, Lisbon), the exhibition grows, involving more artists and expanding its reach and influence.
